ClipboardLibrary · last updated 8 August 2026
Summary
ClipboardLibrary keeps a history of what you copy so you can paste it again later. That history stays on your computer. It is never uploaded, and the developer never receives it.
What the app stores
To do its job, ClipboardLibrary records what you copy to the Windows clipboard:
- the copied content itself — text, images, file lists, and the other clipboard formats an application offers;
- the name of the application you copied from, and its window title;
- the source URL, when the copying application provides one;
- the time of copying, and the size and format of the content.
This will include sensitive material. Anything you copy is recorded, and that can mean passwords, private messages, payment details or confidential documents. That is inherent to how a clipboard manager works, and it is the reason the protections below exist.
Where it is stored
Everything is written to a database in your own user profile on your own computer, under your Windows account. Nothing is transmitted anywhere.
The app has no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, and no advertising. It makes no network connections of its own. The only outbound traffic it can cause is a link you click yourself, which opens in your browser.
Who can see it
Only you, through your Windows user account. The developer has no access to your clipboard history and no way to obtain it.
Your controls
- Delete any entry, or several at once, from the list.
- Exclude apps: name any application and nothing copied while it is in front is recorded at all. Applications that mark their own clipboard writes as private — most password managers do — are skipped without being named.
- Pause recording at any time from the tray icon; the history you already have stays usable while it is paused.
- Limit how much history is kept, by item count or by size.
- Encrypt the database at rest with a password. Encryption is optional and off by default; when enabled, the database is unreadable without your password or the recovery key you are given. The password is never stored — losing both means the data cannot be recovered, by you or by anyone else.
- Quit the app to stop recording entirely.
- Back up or restore your history as a single file you control.
- Remove everything by uninstalling the app and deleting its data folder.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects nothing about age or identity.
